One secure Android app where LHI's teams — from the office to the field in every district — message, call, meet, track attendance, manage tasks and stay connected. Built for how a Malawian health organisation actually works.
What it is
Instead of juggling WhatsApp groups, paper registers and scattered spreadsheets, LHIConnect brings communication, coordination and field reporting together — so nothing gets lost between the clinic, the community and the head office.
Organised team channels, private groups, threads, mentions and one-to-one chats with files and photos.
Call a colleague directly. Their phone rings even when the app is closed or locked — full-screen, with Answer, Decline, Mute and Video.
Scheduled HD video meetings with AI meeting summaries — no separate app to install.
A shared task board and GPS-verified check-ins with end-of-day activity logs from the field.
Templates, reports and board papers up to 25 MB, organised by category and opened with a tap.
An in-app assistant that drafts reports, answers questions and gives a daily briefing.
Kudos, polls and a community board that keep a spread-out team feeling like one team.
Join-code gated, per-user sign-in, and a Board Room only board members can open.
Home & Inbox
Every staff member opens to a personal greeting and Laura's daily briefing — open tasks, field updates, who's checked in and unread messages — with quick tiles into everything else.
Channels
Dedicated channels for programmes, functions and field work — with rich text, code blocks, threaded replies, @mentions, pinned messages and link previews, so decisions don't disappear in a busy group chat.
Calls
Start an audio or video call from any chat. The other person's phone rings even when LHIConnect is closed or locked — a full-screen call with Answer and Decline, then Mute and Video once you're connected. Missed calls are logged, so nothing slips.
Pulse — Meetings
Schedule a meeting and the whole team can find and join it. HD video, screen share on desktop, and zero-cost AI meeting summaries so the notes write themselves.
Task Board
A shared To-Do / In Progress / Done board everyone can see. Assign tasks, set priorities and due dates, and export to CSV for reporting.
Attendance & Logs
A single tap records a GPS-verified check-in for the office or the field, and a two-minute end-of-day log captures what each person got done. Exportable for M&E.
Social Lounge
Give kudos, run a quick poll, or just share a win. A light community space that keeps morale up across districts.
Profile & Settings
Set your photo, role and department, choose which notifications you get, and pick your language — all from one place.
Private by design
A clear privacy notice and consent step, per-user PIN sign-in, data encrypted in transit and at rest on Google Firebase, and a Board Room only the Executive Director can grant access to. No one outside LHI can get in.
Getting started
Onboarding takes about a minute, and the join code keeps the app limited to LHI people.
Your LHI admin adds your email in Firebase App Distribution — you receive an install link.
Install LHIConnect on your Android phone and open it to the staff portal.
Tap Create Account, fill in your details, choose a 4-digit PIN, and enter the LHI join code from your admin.
Data & connectivity
LHIConnect is designed for phones on 2G/3G bundles. Messages cost almost nothing; calls and video are the only things that use real data — and you choose when to use them.
A 10-minute voice call uses about 5–10 MB. Video uses roughly 3–5 MB per minute, so keep video for short check-ins or Wi-Fi.
Chats, tasks, notices and approvals are tiny. A whole day of messaging is usually under 1 MB. Photos and files count by their size — up to 25 MB each.
Everything you've already opened stays readable when the network drops. Messages you send are queued and go out as soon as you're back online.
Help & support
Most questions are answered in a minute by your LHI admin. Technical faults go to Thanthwe Technologies, who build and maintain the app.
